The Owner of Magnolia Rose Company Shares Her Holiday Traditioins

Magnolia Rose Company would like to wish you and your family happy holidays!

Oh my goodness, can you believe Christmas is right around the corner? And 2017!  Can I let you in on a little secret of mine?  I absolutely love this time of year–getting to watch classic holiday movies and snuggle up in front of the fireplace with a warm cup of cocoa is the best, especially if there are homemade marshmallows involved!  Before I jump into sharing my holiday traditions, whip you up a batch of homemade marshmallows and grab some cocoa.

Typically, just after Thanksgiving, we’ll pull the Christmas tree and ornaments out of storage and begin to decorate.  However, this year things were a little different.  I forgot I donated our Christmas décor—it was an honest mistake, promise! Now, I get to go shopping.  This year our tree came from Wal-Mart as they had the best deal and our blush and gold ornaments came from Hobby Lobby (my absolute favorite store) and Michael’s.  I’ll go to the At Home store after the holidays to see what goodies I can find to use for next year.  I’m still on the hunt for pretty winter white ornaments, so, if you see any drop me a comment below with the 411, please!

The children totally helped with the tree, pinky swear!

It was the night before Christmas, and all through the house, everyone was stirring in the Vargas house!  We tend to have a packed house during the holidays, as we are a blended family—the modern day “Brady Bunch” to an extent.

On Christmas Eve, I gather the children in the kitchen and we have a little baking fun.  “Santa’s” favorite cookie is snickerdoodle! I’m not sure how much longer I can ride the Santa train, so, I’ll enjoy the goodies while they last. Santa is also a fan of homemade lemonade.  As the children prepare to go to bed, I dash to my room on a mission to wrap Pin-worthy gifts with stylish wrapping paper from The Paper Source and Home Goods (another one of my favorites).  Adorn them with some pretty ribbon and tassels and presto magic, they’re done!  I should seriously consider finding this Santa some little helpers.

Then on Christmas day I get to literally run downstairs as if I’m running to see what Santa left under the Christmas tree for me, lol but seriously, I run to see my children’s faces as they rip through hours of work perfectly wrapped gifts. [Note to self: no more pretty wrapped gifts!]

After gifts, I swear they morph into lions and lionesses, because their hunger is through the roof!  Out come the pancake griddle and skillets to fry up some eggs and bacon.  I’ve become the self-proclaimed Mickey Mouse pancake face making champion!!  My daughters love when I toss in some pink sprinkles and the boys go nuts over the mini chocolate chips; it’s crazy to see their faces light up from something so simple.  Hubby, on the other hand, is all about the eggs.  I make him a mound of egg whites and what seems like an entire pig (because this is the making of a champion high-protein diet).  All jokes aside, I wouldn’t want it any other way.  Sharing your life with someone and knowing you’re responsible for all the great things (and the not so great things too) your children will do in the future is AMAZING you guys. *tear*  I mean you go from being solo without a care in the world, to married and then with kids.  You become a real adult overnight! Haha, my grandma would be proud.

I’d love to hear what traditions you and your family have started to celebrate the holidays—simply drop us a comment below or a picture on our Facebook page.  From my family and everyone at Magnolia Rose, we’d like to wish all of our couples Merry Christmas and Happy New Years!  It’s been a true blessing watching all of you grow and now have littles in the oven, fur babies, and blending your families together like my husband and I did.  Keep the pictures coming guys, I love love love them!!

Again congratulations and I can’t wait to see your continued growth in 2017.

XOXO,

Shamira
